On Thursday, September 11, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department granted Attorney Thomas G. Griffin’s application to resign from the New York Bar for nondisciplinary reasons. The decision was made with the consent of the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department (AGC).

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Thomas G. Griffin,” with case no. PM-204-25.

Griffin submitted an affidavit sworn on July 3, 2025, seeking to resign. This was subsequently filed on July 7, 2025.  The Deputy Chief Attorney for the AGC responded with correspondence on August 25, 2025, indicating no opposition to Griffin’s resignation.

The court has ordered that Griffin’s name be removed from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in the State of New York, effective immediately.

Following the court’s order, Griffin is prohibited from practicing law in any capacity within New York State. This includes acting as a principal, agent, clerk, or employee of another. He is also barred from appearing as an attorney or counselor-at-law before any court, judge, justice, board, commission, or other public authority.

Furthermore, Griffin cannot provide legal opinions, advice, or hold himself out as an attorney and counselor-at-law in New York. The court has mandated that Griffin surrender any Attorney Secure Pass issued to him to the Office of Court Administration within 30 days of the decision.

The Disposition states:

“It is ORDERED that Thomas G. Griffin’s application for permission to resign is granted and his nondisciplinary resignation is accepted.”

According to Avvo.com, Mr. Griffin is a bankruptcy and debt attorney in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He acquired his law license in New York in 1985.
