On Monday, February 6, 2023, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals suspended on an interim basis attorney James R. Leone based on prior discipline imposed in the State of Florida. The case is entitled “In the Matter of James R. Leone” with case no. 2022-D125.

The Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Board of Illinois reported on its “Summaries of Recent Supreme Court Decisions” that the respondent was initially suspended in the State of Florida for misrepresenting facts to a Third Person in connection with litigation over the price of the property on which the respondent and his wife had paid past-due property taxes.

On March 4, 2022, a Petition for Disciplinary Revocation of the respondent was filed before the Florida Supreme Court. The court decided to grant the said Petition as provided in Rules 3-17.12, Rules Regulating the Florida Bar. Moreover, the court added that inasmuch as the disciplinary revocation was submitted without leave to seek readmission, the revocation is permanent. Mr. Leone is ordered to comply with the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar.
