The Professional Conduct Board of Idaho publicly reprimanded Adam Michael Starr, an attorney based in Portland, Oregon.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Adam Michael Starr.”

The public reprimand was the result of a reciprocal disciplinary action stemming from a case in Oregon. On January 22, 2024, the Disciplinary Board of the Oregon Supreme Court approved a stipulation where Starr received a public reprimand for violating Oregon Rule of Professional Conduct 1.5 regarding fees. This rule is equivalent to Idaho’s rule on fees.

Specifically, the reprimand relates to Starr’s modified fee agreement with a corporate client and his attempt to charge a fee that was not owed at the conclusion of a lengthy breach of contract case. In September 2023, the State Professional Responsibility Board of Oregon authorized formal disciplinary proceedings against Starr for the alleged violations. A month later, Starr entered into a settlement agreement where he admitted to violating the Oregon rule regarding reasonable fees. Both sides agreed a public reprimand was the appropriate sanction.

According to avvo.com, Mr. Starr is a litigation attorney in Portland, Oregon. He acquired his law license in Idaho in 2011.
