On Monday, March 11, 2024, the Attorney Discipline Board’s Tri-County Hearing Panel #54 suspended attorney David L. Wisz’s law license for 18 months.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of David L. Wisz,” with case no. 23-8-GA.

The charges cited Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 8.1(a)(1), 8.4(b) and Michigan Court Rules 9.104(6), 9.119(E)(4), and 9.104(9).

According to the notice of suspension, Wisz had applied for a patent attorney position and submitted an outdated resume containing false information about his employment history and law license status, even though his license was already suspended from a prior unrelated disciplinary matter.

The hearing panel determined that Wisz made false statements of material fact on his affidavit of personal history regarding his job history, violating rules of professional conduct around honesty and misrepresentation. He was also found to have held himself out as an attorney while his license was suspended. Additionally, the panel said Wisz violated previous disciplinary orders by submitting a resume that inaccurately listed his Michigan bar license.

Wisz’s law license has been continuously suspended in Michigan since October 2021. For his current offenses, the panel suspended his license for 18 months starting March 9, 2024. He was also ordered to pay over $2,000 in costs.

According to avvo.com, Mr. Wisz is an intellectual property attorney in Birmingham, Michigan. He attended the Michigan State University College of Law. He acquired his law license in Michigan in 1998.
