On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the Tri-County Hearing Panel #13 suspended the law license of Michigan Attorney John L. Runco for 60 days.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of John L. Runco,” with case no. 24-63-JC.
According to the Notice of Suspension from the Attorney Discipline Board, Mr. Runco and the Grievance Administrator filed a Stipulation for a Consent Order of Discipline under MCR 9.115(F)(5), which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission. In the stipulation, Mr. Runco admitted to being convicted of two counts of domestic violence, a misdemeanor offense.
The panel determined this conviction constituted professional misconduct as defined in MCR 9.104(5). Based on the conviction, admission, and stipulation by both parties, the panel ordered a 60-day suspension of Mr. Runco’s law license, effective immediately. He was also assessed $1,071.47 in costs.
According to avvo.com, Mr. Runco attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, graduating in 1986. He acquired his law license in Michigan the same year.
