On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board issued a notice announcing the reprimand of attorney Joshua C. Castmore. The reprimand is effective as of January 4, 2025, following a Stipulation for a Consent Order of Discipline that Castmore submitted alongside the Grievance Administrator.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Joshua C. Castmore,” with case no. 24-86-GA.

The charges cited Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(b), 1.1(c), 1.3, 1.16(d), 8.4(c) and Michican Court Rules 2.117(C)(2), 9.104(1), and 9.104(2).

This stipulation, approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and accepted by Tri-County Hearing Panel #5, included Castmore’s no-contest plea to allegations of professional misconduct. The misconduct stemmed from Castmore’s failure to appear for a scheduled trial while representing a client involved in a breach of contract and foreclosure case.

This absence led to the court granting a directed verdict in favor of the plaintiff and issuing a default judgment against Castmore’s client. The panel found that Castmore violated several rules of professional conduct, including inadequate case preparation, neglect of client matters, and failure to act diligently.

The Disposition states:

“In accordance with the stipulation of the parties, the panel ordered that respondent be reprimanded. Costs were assessed in the amount of $910.45.”

According to avvo.com, Mr. Castomore is a real estate attorney in Southfield, Michigan. He acquired his law license in Michigan in 2012.
