On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the Supreme Court of Minnesota conditionally reinstated attorney Kamille R. Dean to the practice of law. Dean’s reinstatement is contingent upon her fulfilling specific requirements related to professional responsibility.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Kamille R. Dean,” with case no. A24-1701.
Dean had previously been suspended from practicing law for a minimum of 60 days, starting 14 days after the court’s order on February 11, 2025. As part of the initial suspension order, Dean was required to file with the Clerk of the Appellate Courts and serve upon the Director of the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility proof of successful completion of the written examination required for admission to the practice of law by the Minnesota State Board of Law Examiners on the subject of professional responsibility—the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE).
In a recent affidavit, Dean claimed she complied with the terms for reinstatement, including passing the MPRE. While the Director of the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility did not oppose Dean’s reinstatement, they noted that she had not yet provided proof of her successful completion of the MPRE.
The court agreed that while reinstatement was appropriate, Dean still needed to submit the necessary documentation to complete the process. To satisfy this requirement, Dean must file a copy of the notice received from the National Conference of Bar Examiners, including the date she took the MPRE and her score.
The Supreme Court’s order places Dean on probation for a period of one year. During this probationary period, Dean must fully cooperate with the Director’s Office in monitoring her compliance. This includes responding promptly to any correspondence from the Director, maintaining a current mailing address on file, and immediately reporting any changes of address.
Dean is also required to cooperate with any investigations into allegations of unprofessional conduct and provide authorization for the release of information to verify her compliance with the terms of her probation. Furthermore, Dean must adhere to the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct.
The court has mandated that Dean must file proof of her successful completion of the MPRE with the Clerk of the Appellate Courts and serve it to the Director by February 11, 2026. Failure to provide this proof will result in automatic suspension, pending verification of successful completion of the examination.
The Disposition states:
“IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT: Respondent Kamille R. Dean is conditionally reinstated to the practice of law in the State of Minnesota subject to her successful completion of the written examination required for admission to the practice of law by the Minnesota State Board of Law Examiners on the subject of professional responsibility.”
According to Avvo.com, Ms. Dean is a criminal defense attorney in Phoenix, Arizona. She attended the University of Minnesota Law School, graduating in 2004.
