On Thursday, July 10, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department granted Attorney Naoki Hamada’s motion for reinstatement to practice law, effective immediately. The decision follows his suspension in September 2024 for violating Judiciary Law § 468-a.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Naoki Hamada,” with case no. PM-154-25.
Hamada submitted a notice of motion and an affidavit with an exhibit, sworn on March 19, 2025. The Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department provided responsive correspondence on May 21, 2025.
The New York Court evaluated Hamada’s case. The court determined by clear and convincing evidence that he had met all necessary conditions for reinstatement. Specifically, Hamada demonstrated compliance with the suspension order and the court’s rules. Additionally, the court found that he possesses the requisite character and fitness to resume practicing law and that his reinstatement serves the public interest.
The court’s decision reinstates him as an attorney and counselor-at-law in New York, allowing him to resume his legal practice.
The Disposition states:
“It is ORDERED that respondent’s motion for reinstatement is granted; and it is further ORDERED that respondent is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law, effective immediately.”
