On November 28, 2022, the Profesional Conduct Board of the State of Idaho publicly reprimanded Payette Attorney Virginia A. Bond for professional misconduct in relation to an order of discipline in the State of Oregon.

According to the court filing, Ms. Bond violated the Idaho Rules of Professional Conduct 8.4(d) (engaging in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice).

Ms. Bond’s disciplinary matter in Idaho stemmed from allegations that she committed misconduct in her representation of a client in a divorce matter by assisting the client in violating the joint preliminary injunction issued by the Court, prohibiting her client and her husband from transferring any property without the consent of the other party or prior court order.

The filing states:

“Two weeks after that injunction was issued, Ms. Bond assisted her client in violating the injunction by typing a quit claim deed transferring the husband’s joint interest in the marital residence to her client.”

The filing continues:

“The POA used by Ms. Bond’s client was no longer valid when the quitclaim deed was executed because Idaho Code § 15-12-110(2)(c) terminates spousal powers-of-attorney upon the filing of a divorce petition. Ms. Bond was not aware of that statute when she notarized her client’s signature on the quitclaim deed.”

Ms. Bond and the Bar Counsel entered and submitted a Stipulation for Discipline which was accepted by the Supreme Court of Oregon on November 28, 2022.

Accordingly, the Board publicly reprimanded Ms. Bond pursuant to the stipulated resolution of a reciprocal proceeding based on Ms. Bond’s discipline in Oregon.

As of today, Ms. Virginia A. Bond practices in Payette, Idaho. She attended the University of Oregon School of Law. She has been admitted to the Idaho bar in 1988 and Oregon in 1989. She was a former Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney of Canyon County. Her info can be found on LinkedIn.
