On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Supreme Court of South Carolina lifted the interim suspension of attorney Justin M. McGee. McGee was placed on interim suspension following a disciplinary action taken by the court.

The case is entitled “In the Matter of Justin M. McGee,” with case no. 2023-000843.

On June 1, 2023, the Supreme Court of South Carolina ordered the interim suspension of attorney Justin M. McGee due to pending domestic violence and burglary charges. McGee had allegedly pushed his former wife down the stairs. The suspension was issued pursuant to Rule 17(a) of the Rules for Lawyer Disciplinary Enforcement, which allows the court to place a lawyer on interim suspension upon notice of the filing of an indictment or complaint charging the lawyer with a serious crime. McGee opposed the Office of Disciplinary Counsel’s motion, but the court ruled against him and entered an order suspending him from the practice of law.

However, McGee petitioned the Court to lift the said interim suspension. On November 14, 2023, the Court issued an order granting McGee’s petition. According to the order, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel did not oppose lifting the suspension.

The Disposition states:

“The petition is granted, and Respondent’s interim suspension is hereby lifted.”

According to avvo.com, Mr. McGee is a family attorney in Yonges Island, South Carolina. He attended the Charleston School of Law, graduating in 2009. He acquired his law license in South Carolina in 2010.
