On Thursday, August 12, 2024, the Supreme Court of California disbarred attorney George Anthony Munoz from practicing law in the state.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of George Anthony Munoz,” with case no. S285404.
In the Notice of Disciplinary Charges filed on July 19, 2019, Munoz was accused of misconduct related to his legal practice. The first count alleged that he failed to file a required declaration of compliance with the California Rules of Court by December 27, 2018, in violation of a Supreme Court order from October 18, 2018. This order stemmed from cases against Munoz and placed him on probation for two years with conditions.
As a result of these charges, Munoz faced the possibility of further discipline. The August 12 order from the Supreme Court shows that the most severe penalty was imposed after the disciplinary process concluded.
The Disposition states:
“The court orders that George Anthony Munoz (Respondent), State Bar Number 291278, is disbarred from the practice of law in California and that Respondent’s name is stricken from the roll of attorneys.”
According to avvo.com, Mr. Munoz was a criminal defense attorney in San Luis Obispo, California. He attended the San Joaquin College of Law, graduating in 2008. He acquired his law license in California in 2013.
