On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the Supreme Court of Maryland ordered the immediate suspension of attorney Michele Yvonne Gallagher from practicing law in the state.

The case is entitled “Attorney Grievance Commission v. Michele Yvonne Gallagher,” with case no. 56.

The court issued the suspension order in response to a petition filed by Maryland’s Attorney Grievance Commission seeking disciplinary action against Gallagher. The commission alleged misconduct requiring her suspension from legal practice. Earlier, the court had ordered Gallagher to respond to the allegations, but she failed to do so despite receiving two deadline extensions for her response.

Without any refuting arguments presented, the high court ruled in favor of the commission’s petition and suspended Gallagher’s law license pending further proceedings regarding any misconduct. In accordance with suspension rules, the court also directed that her name be removed from the roll of registered attorneys in Maryland and notified relevant legal bodies of the suspension taking immediate effect.

According to avvo.com, Ms. Gallagher is a litigation attorney in Glen Arm, Maryland. She acquired her law license in Maryland in 1996.
