On Thursday, May 29, 2025, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department granted attorney Maryann Virgona’s request to resign from the New York Bar for nondisciplinary reasons.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Maryann Virgona,” with case no. PM-129-25.
Initially, the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Third Judicial Department opposed Virgona’s application, citing her failure to meet attorney registration requirements for the 2025-2026 biennial period. In response, Virgona provided supplemental correspondence on May 16, 2025, confirming that she had fulfilled her registration obligations. Office of Court Administration records verified that Virgona resolved any prior registration issues, clearing the way for her resignation.
With no further objections from the Attorney Grievance Committee, the court approved Virgona’s nondisciplinary resignation, effective immediately. As part of the ruling, Virgona’s name was removed from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in New York. The court also issued an order prohibiting her from practicing law in any capacity in the state, including acting as an attorney, providing legal opinions, or appearing before any court or public authority.
Additionally, Virgona was directed to surrender any Attorney Secure Pass to the Office of Court Administration within 30 days of the decision.
According to Avvo.com, Ms. Virgona is an attorney in Edgewater, New Jersey. She attended Brooklyn Law School. She acquired her law license in New York in 1993.
