On Thursday, September 4, 2025, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court issued an order appointing Jeremiah M. McIntosh, Esq. as the Receiver for Attorney Jeffrey Pickering’s law practice. This decision follows a petition submitted by the Board of Overseers of the Bar and is effective immediately.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Jeffrey Pickering,” with case no. BAR-25-23.

Furthermore, he will assist current clients in finding new legal representation, prioritizing open and time-sensitive matters.
The order allows the Receiver to hire staff or enlist volunteers to help manage the transition, ensuring that all ethical obligations are met. McIntosh is also authorized to obtain signatory authority over Pickering’s financial accounts, including IOLTA and trust accounts, and is responsible for responsibly distributing client funds.
Attorney Mara RH King, Esq., has been appointed as Co-Receiver to assist in managing any conflicts of interest and to support Mcintosh as needed. Both the Receiver and Co-Receiver are tasked with filing a status report with the Supreme Judicial Court within 120 days of the order.
